Carlos Montalvão is a free lancer model maker and a MA student of Maritime History at the Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa under Dr. Francisco Contente Domingues. He has a post-graduation and a degree in Philosophy and post-graduation studies in General Administration and Management. He worked in administration and management at the University of Lisbon, the Catolic University and the Superior Institute of Business (Instituto Superior de Gestão). Nevertheless, his major interest is model ships building and he built several models for museums and public institutions. He is the autor of a book entitled O xaveco marroquino – A construção do modelo, about the construction of a model of the chebec used by barbarian pirates in the 18th century. At present, he is building a model of the Pepper Wreck.
